Mkoka, Mabalangu & Mugu villages: Harvesting Success, Planting the Future

Harvesting Success, Planting the Future

As we transition from one growing season to the next, we are thrilled to share some highlights of the progress happening across our project sites. These past weeks have brought successful harvests, healthy crop development, and exciting preparations for new plantings.

Highlights from the Field

Tomatoes, Onions, Eggplants, Cabbages, and More: Across Mkoka, Mabalangu, and Mugu, we are celebrating the successful harvest of tomatoes and onions. These efforts have yielded significant results, improving nutrition and generating thousands of dollars in income for local farmers. Our demonstration sites showcase the impact of sustainable agricultural practices, bringing new hope and opportunities for income generation to thousands of people.

New Beginnings: As one season concludes, preparations for the next are well underway. The upcoming planting season will include African eggplant and sweet peppers, both expected to fetch high market prices. Fields are already brimming with healthy crops of cabbages, carrots, and tomatoes, setting a strong foundation for continued growth and success.

Empowering Farmers: Farmers in all project villages are taking meaningful steps toward sustainability by registering their groups and establishing bank accounts. These initiatives pave the way for stronger collective efforts and long-term resilience.

Strengthened Partnerships: Through our pilot Seedling Subsidy Program, over 50 farmers have gained access to subsidized seedlings, enabling them to enhance their production capacity. This year, we aim to expand the program to reach over 300 farmers across nine villages, further amplifying its impact.

Looking Ahead While one season comes to a close, we are full of anticipation for what lies ahead. Together, with your support, we continue to improve livelihoods, empower communities, and advance sustainable farming practices in Tanzania.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Your contributions make all of this possible, and we look forward to updating you on the progress of the new season soon.
